Why am I receiving a chargeback from the Department of Revenue?

The chargeback letters are mailed once a year from the DOR to the Chancery Clerk's office. The Chancery Clerk, in turn, mails these out to the taxpayers. There are several reasons for receiving a Homestead Chargeback:
(1). Income taxes are owed. (2). A new application was not submitted when a spouse died or when a person remarried. (3). The Social Security number is incorrect. etc.
